A fiery semi-final
The Valencia P1 delivered one of the most dramatic matches of the Premier Padel season. Juan Lebrón and Alejandro Galán reignited their long-standing feud during a tense semi-final against Chingotto and Galán. Body shots, heated exchanges, and a refusal to shake hands at the end of the match turned the clash into a spectacle that went far beyond the scoreboard.
Galán’s masterclass
Despite being targeted throughout the match, Galán produced an extraordinary performance. He played under 40% of the balls yet finished with 29 winners, only nine unforced errors, and a flawless smash conversion rate. His composure under pressure contrasted sharply with Lebrón’s emotional outbursts, which became the defining storyline of the encounter.
The turning point
The drama escalated in the third set when Galán struck a volley that hit Leo Augsburger. Although Galán immediately apologized, Lebrón reacted furiously, telling his partner to retaliate. Later, during another rally, Lebrón taunted Galán with “Salta adesso, salta!” (“Jump now, jump!”). Galán reported the incident to the umpire, and tensions boiled over as Lebrón continued to provoke him, even claiming “Sei qui grazie a me” (“You are here because of me”). Galán responded with a smile, refusing to be drawn into further confrontation.
No handshake at the net
At the end of the match, Chingotto and Galán sealed victory 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. While Chingotto and Lebrón exchanged a brief handshake, Galán turned away from Lebrón, refusing the gesture. The moment captured the essence of their rivalry: respect between some players, but deep unresolved conflict between the former partners.
Wider tournament highlights
Beyond the headline clash, Valencia P1 offered plenty of storylines. Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia staged a remarkable comeback in another El Clásico, Andrea Ustero and Ari Sánchez extended their impressive run, while Triay/Brea and Bea/Paula suffered shock exits. Momo González and Alex Campagnolo were forced to withdraw due to injury, adding to the drama of a tournament that showcased both the passion of the fans and the unpredictability of Premier Padel.
