Moyano begins coaching career after retirement

Last January, Ramiro Moyano closed his professional playing career in a symbolic way, sharing the court with his son in his final match. The occasion came during a FIP tournament at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, marking the end of his time as a competitor but not his departure from the sport.

Debut as a coach in Cancun

Less than two months later, Moyano stepped into a new role, making his debut as a coach at the Cancun P2 event, guiding Pincho González. Despite the defeat, he expressed his excitement about the transition. “È il mio primo torneo da allenatore a Cancun, molto felice di debuttare con Pincho. La verità è che pensavo di soffrire meno, quell’adrenalina delle partite ti fa persino venire voglia di entrare in campo e giocare,” Moyano said after the match.

Support from Rafa Nadal Academy

Just as in Mallorca, the Cancun event was staged at the Rafa Nadal Academy facilities, offering a professional environment for players and coaches alike. Moyano highlighted the benefits of the setup. “La comodità di avere i campi, l’hotel vicino, tutto nello stesso posto, aiuta molto a far sentire il giocatore a suo agio,” he explained.

A new chapter on the sidelines

Moyano’s move from player to coach reflects his desire to remain connected to the 20×10 court, channeling his experience into developing others. His early impressions suggest that while the adrenaline of competition remains strong, his new role offers fresh challenges and opportunities to shape the next generation of padel talent.
