owerleague is injecting over £650,000 into its Birmingham site to meet rising demand for padel, the fast-paced sport that blends tennis and squash. This expansion includes two new courts, one of which will be the operator’s first show court — a venue tailored for competitive fixtures, enhanced spectator experience, and broadcast capabilities.
Strategic upgrade plan
The Birmingham development is part of a broader £1.4 million upgrade initiative launched in early 2024. Once completed in June, the site will offer five padel courts alongside 13 small-sided football pitches. The venue currently draws more than 7,000 weekly users across both sports, underscoring padel’s growing popularity.
Competitive ambitions
The introduction of a show court is aimed at elevating Birmingham’s status in the UK padel scene. With limited venues capable of hosting high-level tournaments, Powerleague’s investment positions the site as a contender in the emerging padel events market.
