Decisive breaks seal back-to-back crowns in the Netherlands
Fresh from their triumph at Roland Garros and a semifinal win over the world number 1 pairing, Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero completed another standout tournament run at the Rotterdam Premier Padel P2. Facing Bea González and Paula Josemaría, who were aiming to lift their first trophy in 105 days, the Catalan partnership delivered when margins narrowed to secure a 6-4, 6-4 victory in 1 hour and 41 minutes.
Parity defined the early stages of the opening set before Sánchez and Ustero made the initial move. Although González and Josemaría responded instantly by breaking back to level at 2-2, the pressure from the Catalan pair did not abate. Relentless returning opened another opportunity in the seventh game, where Sánchez and Ustero converted a key break to lead 4-3 before closing out the set 6-4 with steady play in the crucial rallies.
Holding off late pressure at the Rotterdam Ahoy
The second set unfolded in nearly identical fashion. Ángel González’s squad grabbed an early break, but Claudio Gilardoni’s players answered immediately to pull back to 2-2. As the duel progressed, González and Josemaría raised their level and generated opportunities to move ahead for the first time, yet Sánchez and Ustero withstood the push.
After weathering that difficult stretch, Sánchez and Ustero struck decisively in the ninth game. The critical break gave them the platform to serve out the final, closing the match without hesitation in front of a packed arena at the Rotterdam Ahoy.
The triumph marks the 4th title of the season for Sánchez and Ustero and their 2nd consecutive championship following their victory at Roland Garros. While the number 1 ranking still sits in the distance, their recent momentum keeps their highest ambitions intact heading into the rest of the campaign.
