Buenos Aires will host the fourth edition of the FIP Senior World Cup from September 14 to 19, 2026. For the first time, the event arrives in South America, expanding to 32 national teams and welcoming athletes who have shaped the history of padel. The Argentine Padel Association (APA), together with the International Padel Federation (FIP), will organize the competition, which celebrates both the sport’s legends and its global growth.
Defending champions and legacy
Argentina will defend its men’s world title on home soil, while Spain will look to retain the women’s crown. The tournament emphasizes that talent knows no age, with senior athletes continuing to inspire younger generations and serving as role models for current champions. The expansion from 16 teams in Las Vegas (2022) to 24 in La Nucía (2024), and now 32 in Buenos Aires, reflects the exponential rise of padel worldwide.
Updated categories and structure
Following approval by the FIP Board of Directors, senior categories have been set at five age ranges: 40 , 45 , 50 , 55 , and 60 . This aligns with the new FIP Beyond format, which includes players aged 18–39, ensuring a comprehensive structure for all levels of competition.
Voices from leadership
FIP President Luigi Carraro declared: “We are delighted that the FIP Senior World Cup will be held for the first time in Argentina, a key country in the history and development of padel, perfectly suited to represent its identity, culture, and passion. The Senior movement is of fundamental importance to us: today’s most experienced players, in addition to being great champions, represent a living legacy of our sport, an essential link between the talent of the present and the future. We are confident that this will be a special edition, thanks also to the enthusiasm of a unique audience, which has contributed significantly to the global growth of padel. I would like to thank the APA and its President, Santiago Brito, for having taken on, together with the FIP, the organization of such an important event, and all the Federations that submitted their bids, which demonstrates the growing interest and continued international expansion of our sport.”
APA President Santiago Brito also commented: “Bringing a World Championship to Argentina reaffirms the APA’s commitment to the development and international projection of padel. This event represents a significant milestone and, personally, it is an honor to continue a family legacy linked to the history of this sport. I thank the FIP President, Luigi Carraro, for the trust, support, and assistance provided to make Argentina the host of this Senior World Championship. Our country will have the honor of welcoming delegations from around the world and hosting a competition that promotes the growth and integration of padel globally.” The Buenos Aires edition promises to be a landmark event, blending tradition with innovation and reinforcing Argentina’s central role in the sport’s international expansion.
